Tomorrow: Anniversary party at Greggs

This week we'll take a break from SnB as usual and will instead be celebrating SnBProv's ninth birthday. The details are:

• Where: Gregg's, 1303 North Main Street, Providence, RI
• When: Wednesday May 22, 6:30 pm (people may meet for drinks earlier)

If you plan to come, please let me know so I'll have a reasonable idea of how big a reservation to make. (I'll call the reservation in earlier that day.)

If you haven't come to SnB in a while, this is a perfect time to catch up with everyone, and if you've never been to SnB, this is a great way to get to know everyone. What I'm saying is: You should come to this.

Tomorrow at Lippett Park/Three Sisters

With the turn of the seasons, and a nice forecast in the offing, we're going to try meeting outside for the first time this year!

You should be able to find us at Lippett Park, which is on Hope Street in Providence near the Pawtucket border. When it gets dark, or if the weather looks bad, we will move to Three Sisters, which is across the street from Lippett Park at 1074 Hope Street.

There is on-street parking, and if we end up at Three Sisters there is also a parking lot behind the building. I plan to get there around 6:30 pm.

I think we'll probably keep meeting here through the summer, so unless I post otherwise, assume that that's the case. You can always check the Facebook group for last-minute updates.

As always, crafters of all descriptions and experience levels are welcomed, and there aren't any dues or anything like that.

No SnB this week; back to normal next week

Knitsgiving next week

Continuing a tradition started in 2010, some of us are going to have pre-Thanksgiving dinner at Gregg's on North Main Street next week (Wednesday November 21). I'll get there at 6:30 pm though some people may get there sooner for drinks. If you're interested in joining us, let me know so I can make a reservation.

This week at Lippett Park/Three Sisters

This week we'll try meeting again at Lippett Park, which is on Hope Street in Providence near the Pawtucket border. When it gets dark, or if the weather looks bad, we will move to Three Sisters, which is across the street from Lippett Park at 1074 Hope Street.

There is a farmer's market in the park until 6 pm, so some of you may wish to arrive early and do some shopping. I will probably get there around 6:30 pm. You may wish to bring a chair to sit outside. (I will try to have one or two extra chairs in my car.)

There is on-street parking, and if we end up at Three Sisters there is also a parking lot behind the building.

In case of bad weather, or once it starts to get dark, we'll move across the street to Three Sisters.

In East Providence this week

We're not able to meet at AS220 Labs this week, unfortunately. However, Erin noticed that Superchief Trio has an outdoors show from 6:30-8 pm on Wednesday in East Providence so we thought it could be fun to have it there.

Back at AS220 Labs on Wednesday

On Wednesday this week we're back to AS220 Labs in the Mercantile Block at 6:30 pm.

To get there, go to the corner of Mathewson and Washington Streets downtown, walk east on Mathewson past Local 121 and then past the AS220 gallery at 95 Mathewson. There will be a small alley named Lucie Way on your left. Go down Lucie Way, and you'll find AS220 Labs around halfway down, right after the Mexican restaurant.

The doors may be locked. If so, ring the doorbell to the left of the doors and we will come and let you in.

As always, crafters of all descriptions and experience levels are welcomed, and there aren't any dues or anything like that.

A note about parking
There isn't any parking for AS220 Labs specifically, but depending on what else is going on downtown, you may be able to find street parking. Otherwise, I usually use the parking lot on Fountain Street between Greene and Empire (next to the Providence Public Library), which has parking for $5.

SnBProv new location tonight

Hi all,

This week we're going to try having SnB at the AS220 labs in the Mercantile Block.

This is a completely separate building from the main AS220 building you are probably familiar with and is some streets away. Specifically, the entrance is on Lucie Way, which runs parallel to Washington Street off of Mathewson (behind Local 121). Here is some more information about the location.

Again, this is not the main AS220 building where there are shows and things, nor is it the building at 95 Mathewson Street, although it is right next to the latter. If necessary, you can call me at 401-419-0367 -- I am planning to be there at 6:30 pm.

I gather they are very excited to have us and I am looking forward to knitting there! Thanks to katrinkles for putting this together and for clarifying to me where the building is exactly.

They don't have food at this location, but there are a number of good restaurants nearby -- I have heard recommendations for 'Viva Mexico' just down the street I think, and I will probably try that.

Wednesday at AS220

Since it seems that many of the regular SnBProv folks will be coming to my CD release party on Wednesday, I think we'll just try moving SnB there altogether.

The doors for the show won't open until 8 pm, but if people want to meet sooner, there is actually a decent amount of seating in the bar area of AS220 -- plus dinner is available from AS220 Foo(d), which in my opinion is generally pretty tasty. You can see their menu here..
